Starlight Reunion

Presented by Faith In Strangers

About this event

On Friday the 4th March from 6pm, Faith In Strangers welcomes you to come and remember the good old days of the Starlight.

Tickets can be bought in advance or on the door. Ticket proceeds will be used to raise funds for local charities The Kitchen (CT9) and Oasis DA Services.

The building that Faith In Strangers now resides, has a rich history and was formerly known as the Starlight, primarily in the 60’s and 70’s. The venue was a prime location for music, socialising and dancing throughout many decades. Faith In Strangers will be hosting a reunion with some of the disc jockeys that used to spin records in the Starlight, including DJ Crippsy who used to play under the name pseduonym John Martins.

Unfortunately, the building does not have wheelchair access.

Opening in 1964, the modernist building called Cliftonville Leisure Complex’, was built to host a restaurant, bowling alley, pub, nightclub and petrol station, with residential apartments added above. What is now, Faith In Strangers, was then Starlight Club, a members club with a reputation for well dressed patrons and pricey drinks. It attracted people from all over but was known to be one of the more swanky venues in Margate.

When we took on the the old dilapidated building, we were well aware of its history as an important venue for locals to socialise, dance and make friends. Its history was a great inspiration for us and we felt now was the right time to hold a night to celebrate Starlight’s former punters and DJs.” — venue owner Richard
